Our deepest sympathy to John and the family and friends of Maureen Cummins from Conway Road, Stubshaw Cross who died on the 24th of February aged 69 years. Her funeral rites were celebrated at Wigan Crematorium last Wednesday prior to cremation. Also to Christine and the family and friends of Bill Sweeney from Claydon Drive, Spring View who died on the 24th of February aged 64 years. His funeral rites were celebrated at Holy Family Church last Thursday prior to burial at Westwood. Also to Michael and the family and friends of Thomas Mitchell (formerly from Avon Road, Ashton) who died at his son’s home in Blackpool on the 26th of February aged 93 years. His funeral rites will be celebrated at Saint Wilfrid’s Church next Wednesday at 11.00am prior to cremation at Wigan Crematorium. May the Lord share with them the fullness of resurrection life.

EASTER BINGO & BONNET PARADE

Holy Family will be holding their annual Easter Bingo and Easter Bonnet Parade on Tuesday the 23rd of March in the Parish Hall in Tram Street. Doors open at 6.30pm with eyes down at 7.30pm. Admission 20p. Fantastic prizes – with a special prize for the best and most imaginative Easter Bonnet! Bring your friends. 

IRISH NIGHT

The “Green Season” of the year is almost upon us! And to celebrate the time of year there’s a Charity Fundraising Irish Night taking place at the Brian Boru Club in Ashton next Friday (12th March) from 8.00pm until midnight. Music b y Michael Coyne with raffles, bingo, Irish dancing and refreshments. Tickets are £2.50 (or pay at the door) and all proceeds are in aid of HCPT Pilgrimage Trust which takes children with special needs to Lourdes.

NEW OFFERTORY ENVELOPES

The new issue of Offertory Envelopes begins from the beginning of April and - for those who use them - your box of dated and numbered envelopes is now available for collection from the entrance hall at each church.  

HOLY FAMILY SUMMER FAYRE

We hope to hold a Summer Fayre at Holy Family on Saturday the 12th of June, provided that enough parishioners and helpers will get involved to make it happen. Can you help with plants or homebake or in any other way? Contact Jacqueline Kehoe on 865449 if you wish to help.
